PLATAMONAS SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES

Time flies when you're having fun. The same is with the tourists that choose Platamonas as their favorite holiday destination. The blue cristal clear sea offers a large variety of aquatic sports. The golden beaches combined with the rocky scenery, with valeys and rivers create the perfect place for adventure holiday sports.

Aquatic sports: The Platamonas region offers very large beaches streaching along 7 km of shore. This means plenty of space for practicing a lot of sports. Tourists can try them all in one full day: swimming, parashooting, wind surfing, water ski, jet ski, water bicycle, canoe, yachting and diving.

Adeventure sports: Adventure lovers can train on mountain bikes, can go horse riding on the quiet paths through the forests admiring nature in all of its glory and beauty. Tourists can also try something extreme but fun and enjoyable: driving geeps through shallow rivers and through estuarine area of rivers. These routes are fascinating. Others can go rafting on these rivers.

Besides the natural sloaps of the Olympus and the Pieria Mountains, there also exist artificial sloaps build especially for climbing by the Litohoro Sports Centre and the Elen Mountaineer Club from Katerini.

Beach sports: Beach volleyball or football are very popular in Platamonas. Sometimes even important sport events are held on these beaches as the facilites offered here are very good. Don't forget that Platamonas has been rewarded with ,,the Blue Flag" for its clean seas and its perfect beaches.

Climbing and ski: In Platamonas? Not really but very close, more exactly on Mount Olympus. There is a specialised ski centre with all the needed facilites in the region called Elatohori. There are three main ski sloaps: a premium sloap that is 2300 meters long, a secondary one that is 4800 meters long and a small one for beginners that is 250 meters long.
